Bosnia and Herzegovina is authorized to be on the list of countries eligible to export heat-treated milk and dairy products, the BiH Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mirko Sarovic has confirmed.

“This is good news for BiH and one of the best when it comes to the dairy and agricultural sector,” said Sarovic at today’s press conference in Sarajevo.

“For now, the permission is obtained, but the job is not finished,” said Sarovic and stressed that BiH must adopt three key laws in this field – the laws on veterinary, food and agriculture – in the next three months.

Drafting of those documents has already begun.

Sarovic said that the mission of the Food and Veterinary Office (FVO) will come again in 2016 to check whether a system that guarantees quality is established.

“In a year ahead we have to justify the trust and understanding of the FVO,“ Sarovic said, adding that obstacles for milk export to Turkey and Russia are also removed.

He stressed that registration of milk producers who meet EU standards for export will last one to two months.
